George J. Rabstejnek
ChairmanMr. Rabstejnek retired in 1993 as Chairman and CEO of Harbridge House a global consulting firm. He is former Chairman of Bluelight, Inc. and Chairman Emeritus of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and is serving as an executive advisor to the Collaborative at MIT which is conducting ongoing studies of childhood obesity, stroke and defense establishment health care. Mr. Rabstejnek has served on several university advisory boards at Georgia Tech, MIT, Northeastern University and Boston College. He is a former Naval Aviator and retired as a Commander in the Naval Reserve.
Mr. Rabstejnek is Chairman of CTC, Inc. a private non-profit organization which provides technical support services dedicated to public safety and homeland security. CTC serves the “first responder” community on the federal, state and local level.
Mr. Rabstejnek is former Chairman of Bluelight, Inc., a company focused on the commercial exploitation of Gallium Nitride film technology developed by the Photonics Center at Boston University. He is also in the process of developing several other organizations designed to accelerate the commercialization of technology from research universities. Mr. Rabstejnek is Chairman Emeritus of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (a Harvard teaching hospital) where he chaired the research committee and founded a neural prostheses research laboratory (a joint venture between the Harvard Teaching Hospitals, Draper Laboratories and Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He has consulted with several graduate business schools of major universities in the United States and is serving as an executive advisor to the Collaborative at MIT which is conducting ongoing studies of childhood obesity, stroke and defense establishment health care.
Mr. Rabstejnek retired in 1993 as Chairman and CEO of Harbridge House a global consulting firm founded in 1950. In this capacity he substantially increased the business base in high technology and commercial organizations. He expanded the firm’s international business and founded several supplemental research and service companies including Developmental Sciences Services Corporation and the Washington based International Planning and Analysis Center.
As an analyst and consultant, Mr. Rabstejnek provided a broad range of services to industry and government focusing primarily on strategic issues in large, complex organizations in industry and government. Representative contributions are:
- Strategic guidance to high technology organizations leading to reevaluation of mission, objectives and strategy.
- Development of a new organizational structure and management aproach for a large electronic manufacturing organization.
- Design and implementation of a planning system for top management of a highly diversified conglomerate.
- Preparation and presentation of numerous management development programs including top management briefings on policy and topical issues.
- Chairman of a joint government (Joint Chiefs of Staff) and industry committee that examined the strategic mobility of the United States. This group with the support of the Joint Chiefs of Staff prepared a recommended program that was submitted to the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense on revitalization of military transportation resources (air, sea, rail and ports).
Prior to joining Harbridge House, Mr. Rabstejnek was a project manager for the Systems Management Division of IBM. He managed functions in research, engineering and systems design. His professional staff was responsible for special assignments including the development and installation of state of the art, specialized management information systems.
Mr. Rabstejnek is former Chairman of the Advisory board of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was Vice Chairman and former President of the World Affairs Council of Boston, member of the Corporation of Draper Laboratories, member of the board of several research and high technology organizations and the Enterprise Advisory Board of the Photonics Center. Mr. Rabstejnek has served on several university advisory boards at Georgia Tech, MIT, Northeastern University and Boston College. He has been a guest lecturer and instructor at numerous management association and company sponsored executive conferences. He has also published several articles in management and trade publications. He is a former Naval Aviator and retired as a Commander in the Naval Reserve.
Mr. Rabstejnek holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology where he is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni and was awarded the distinguished Alumnus award from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and a resolution by the University. He is a graduate of the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration, Advanced Management Program.
